This Chalice consist of four main elements.
The first element  in importance is its function as the vessel in which the blood of Christ is held. This is the outpouring of Christ in a sacrifice of Love to the Father and therefore a chalice is the attempt to contain the fullness of Divine Love.

The second element is the base which signifies the good soil into which the seed of Truth is planted.

The third element  is the alabaster jar of ointment which signifies the contents the totality of what we possess in our beings as persons. It signifies that which we have a right to hold onto and that cannot be taken by anyone: that whic only we can give because it is tied to our own concept of self-worth.

The fourth element  is the sponge of Calvary. This is where the vinegar and gall of our poor human actions mingle and become one with Saving Blood of Christ's passion. It is our response to His invitation to cooperate in the atonement of the Cross as he pleads, "I thirst". In union with our response, "it is accomplished" by Christ.
